Guys
Can I ask you all to post any 7.5 GTI exterior pics you have or find in here please? I'm really struggling to select my colour (I've gone tungsten but can still change) so need some help.
When it comes to things like this I'm a bit OCD as well, so it helps if the photos are of gti's with the red trim rather than the silver of the GTD. with the new colours on the 7.5 too and the comparative rarity of the GTI I'm struggling to see physical vehicles too which would always help.
I'll update the thread too with any good pics I find, I'm spending half my life on the #GolfGTI tag on insta at the moment.

Sorry no photos. However, I had the exact same problem and agonised over this for weeks. If you see any Tungsten Silver Golf you can compare how the colour contrasts against the rear lights. It is probably the easiest colour to keep looking clean. Though, in the end, I decided it was too conservative a colour for a GTI.
I see you have ordered 19inch alloys. Many people recommend DCC + 19inch alloys, unless you are happy with a really firm riding car.

There is a load of photos already posted on here. It is not exactly a large amount of colour to chose from.
Also and please done take offence but as someone that knows someone actually with OCD I do wish people would learn what it is before saying they're a bit OCD

@ I wanted a GTI, I don't mean to cause offence, perhaps poor choice of words on my part.
I've trawled this forum and others and I'm struggling to find real world photos of the GTi in some of the newer colours, hence my request.
@ Daz Auto, until recently my car history was mainly cup pack equipped Renault Sport cars so in comparison the 19" equipped cars I have test driven have rode well (especially when compared to the wife's mini on 17" run flats)

Always worth checking the used cars section of VW's website. Dealers are now advertising facelift demos for sale and there's currently Pure White, Black Pearl, Black Rubin and Atlantic Blue mk7.5 GTI's for sale with photos (some with videos) in the used car section.

People used to post their new car photo's in the new arrivals thread above. It was a pretty good one-stop-shop for things like this. But it seems to have gotten a bit fragmented of late.

I don't think you'd regret your choice of Tungsten at a later date. It's a really cool colour imo and quite rare on a GTI as far as I can tell.

@kalimon, tungsten seems a safe choice. And white (my fall back option) seems to suit the GTI well but I've had lots of silver cars before and my current Octavia is white so wondering if I should be more adventurous

vw Germany will do any colour you like - they have a palette of about 100 shades of various colours - "special paint" at a "special" price of course. I don't know if VW UK would accomodate a customer looking to spec one of those colours, I suspect not, as they don't seem to be flexible to unusual requests that way. I know VW Ireland would if you waved enough money at them.

Special paint will cost you 2000 euros (just like Audi Individual) and expect a long delivery time.

I do like those Brescia wheels (and have ordered them for mine) but I do wonder how easy they will be to damage through 'curbing'? What do others think?
Generally it's the wife that drives by 'touch' but I admit I have spoilt a rim through carelessness (or aggressive curbs as I prefer to think of it :whistle:)

I've been thinking the same but my logic was that I'd never kerbed the rims on my Octavia, that was until this morning at least... :cry:

Very likely. I'm very careful but have had 3 curbing incidents on two of my wheels in 2 years. There's so little tyre and so much wheel that if you touch a kerb you will almost certainly cause damage. Still, with mine the damage is only really noticeable when up close and corrosion hasn't set in yet. Expect it to lessen the dissappointment when it eventually happens and just enjoy the looks :smiley:

Octavia vRS rims seemed to be quite narrow compared to the tyres and relatively low risk for curbing. I had two estates and neither suffered any wheel damage even allowing for wife's driving style!!

Oryx white gets my vote. Changes from white to silver to gold depending on sunlight. Not cheap tho.

Oryx white doesn't change colour like that, on a dull day it looks just like flat white, on a sunny day it looks great especially if you're wearing sunglasses. At night under some nice led lighting like in supermarket car park it looks brilliant.

I had a black car - never again. A facelift DPB parked in front of me. The black grill and trim was lost against the black paint. I though it needed more chrome or something. I noticed on luxury German cars they have more chrome to contrast against the darker colours.

The lease deals have sky rocketed again over the last few days, everywhere has dropped the cheap deals now, must have fulfilled the order allocation or something?? So I'm going to wait to see if they come down again, hopefully next month.

It's very nice, everyone who has seen it has commented on the colour. It does look grey with a hint of blue, until you park it next to a grey car and it's totally different. Like you say, it appears different depending on the angle. There's loads of metallic fleck in it as well, which probably helps.

Nice one. It sounds like a good choice then. When you've paid extra for a metallic, it's nice that it really shows through.
I keep wondering whether I should have gone for something lighter, but im sticking with my original instinct. That's the problem with these 16 week lead times, you end up with too much time to think! :undecided:

I suspect no one on the forum has either ordered or taken delivery of a mk7.5 Golf in Black Rubin yet, so that's why the only pictures that've been posted are of the nearly new one that's currently for sale on the VW website.
Maybe you can be the first forum member to post up pictures when you get yours; assuming Black Rubin is still your colour choice.

Looks like I might be. I won't get mine until September though. :/ Would have preferred Isaac Blue but just couldn't justify the cost increase on a 'bargain' 24 month lease. Also Mrs. Avallon said she wanted the Black Rubin...

I'm sure someone posted on here when their rubin order arrived. They didn't like it and reordered.
In the pictures they posted it looked lighter than the Listers pictures. Basically imagine maroon/bergundy and that's about it. Shame it's not more black with a hint of purple...

As with all colours the light plays a big part as do your own eyes. I'll post some pics when pick mine up next week

Yes, light is a big factor. This one is on VW's website for sale. If you watch the video, it looks very maroon/burgundy in the brighter lighting conditions compared to the one in the link posted earlier by Piz_Buin;

Loads of rattles
Various problems with the Discover nav and Bluetooth
The rear of the car tries to pass the from under heavy breaking
The climate control isn't that cold
Fuel filler opens when it wants
Knocking rear suspension
Auto hold turns itself off without touching any pedals
Drivers seat is broken
Keys not recognised by car even after new batteries
Sometimes only one mirror will fold
Sometimes the passenger mirror won't dip on reverse
Sometimes the right mirror indicator doesn't work

You've got no choice but to drive it into a field and set fire to it.

Forgot to add that the drivers door speaker has a rattle or is faulty, even on low volume with a heavy base it sound like a nova from the 80's

That looks fantastic.
I said it before but it's really like the old blue graphite on the MK5.
It does look great and would be my colour of choice.
Agree with you Joe on it looking very similar to blue graphite, which I think was also available on the mk6 as I remember going through the Carbon Grey or Blue Graphite conundrum when I bought my mk6 GTD.

I had 3 Blue Graphites before having now had 2 Carbon Greys, so my new order is for Isaac Blue as it's the signature colour and looks great.

I have ordered Isaac blue but after doing all kinds of searches and also comparing to the old mk6 graphite blue I am beginning to second guess...this photo of a mk6 graphite blue R has really put me off! BORING and UNINSPIRING!

After all my research I have reached the conclusion that the lighter shades really do justice to the beautiful lines of the mk 7,5 gti.
So now I am seriously considering Indium grey ( thanks to Wides posts) and tungsten silver... I know silver is common, but theres something about the tungsten tint that for me just really sits beautifuly on the gti, add the red accents and I think it looks amazing.
Anyway...if you can be bothered I would appreciate your views. :smiley:

After looking at the two links you posted, it really is quite simple......get Tungsten!
The grapite blue R looks like sh!t in comparison.

Not sure if this really helps, but I originally ordered IG then after seeing Tungsten in the wet, on a Tiguan, decided Tungsten looked fantastic. A week later took the wife to see my new colour choice (in the sun) on a gti and this time the colour looked quite different. I have now gone back to IG. I guess you really need to see the colours in the metal.

That is a beauty Joe....but, how was the colour when the sun wasn't out and the car was dirty? Was the blue still vibrant or did it look a bit 'navy' :grin:

Yeah it looked a bit flat, less blue and more dark grey especially when dirty. But let's face it, all of the colours look best in bright sunshine when the car is sparkling. The light really changes how they look.

My GTI arrived at the dealership today and they delightfully informed me that the fog lights are there, despite being warned that they wouldn't be 4 weeks after I placed the order mid March. It seems that some got them and some didn't after all.

That brownish purple maskerading as a shade of black is a dreadful colour. Makes it so much easier to swallow the upgrade cost for any other colour.

And that's precisely what VW want you to do and why they have opted for a standard ('free') colour that won't be popular with the majority of customers; most people will pay extra for an alternative colour.
More profit for VW, as it probably costs no more to paint a car in one of the 'extra-cost' colours than it does to paint it Black Rubin - all will get primer, colour coat and lacquer. Oryx White may be the exception, as I believe there's an extra step in the painting process.

Yep. I can understand charging extra for metallic paint, but i've always thought charging more for solid paint is a bit cheeky. It's obviously charging for the sake of charging.
In fairness to VW though they're not the only ones doing it.

It's £420 extra so if you're keeping the car for 3 years it is £140 per year. I think it priced okay on the Golf, it was nearly £1300 when I got it on my CC a number of years ago. I thought that at least I wouldn't see another one in it that often and within 6 months there was 3 CC's in oryx in a radius of 5 miles of me :rolleyes:

Yes, heavily edited and not a true representation of Isaac Blue. Initially, I thought both cars had been wrapped in a blue mirror-finish vinyl wrap.

made up with the colour and the car mate . The first car I looked at was a black Ruben with stranded wheels and did not like it had to wait for this 1 came with the nicer wheels and dsg cost me a bit more but made up with it

I've seen my third 7.5 GTI on the road this evening (in Exeter) and it's the first one I've seen with fogs.
This one was indium grey, the other two were white plus I've seen a red GTD.
has the tide reversed again and GTI's returned to the top of buyers lists?
Indium looks good in the flesh I can happily report, and for those that don't have fogs, don't despair, they're quite well recessed and hard to see unless illuminated.
The new headlights look really good, a kind of blend of styles between mk7 and mk6 xenons taking the best elements of both and bringing them up to date with LED technology.

Yet to see a GTI on the road, seen a white GTD and a GTI in local JCT600. Must say I think the GTDs silver strip blends in too much, much prefer the red of the GTI which is far more distinctive.

Thanks for all the help and input into this thread. I've revised my order to Isaac Blue and dropped the art Velours in lieu of the more traditional Tartan and to free cash for other options like Dynaudio. Just a few days after changing my build week has been confirmed too so no going back now
