Hello again people :) Just doing my part to keep the MK4 thread alive lol, General query, would my MK4 GTI (1.8T AUM) have an alarm? I cant seem to set if off if it does have one? interested to know
-
Yes.
Break a window, that'll prove it works
-
Haha, great idea that
-
Lock it with someone inside - ultrasonics should trigger the alarm based on movement fairly swiftly.

Can't see anyone being that stupid to want to steal a mk4

In the U.K. You would be the dumbest thief in the planet to even think about stealing a mk4 they can be bought for less than a night out on the piss

Wowowow chill people jeez lol
Side note, I didn't buy my car because it was cheap or because it was local. I bought it because I wanted one , regardless of what you think of them, its mine not yours so chill

Check if it has a horn under bonnet.
Or use a screwdriver to push the lock into closed position then lock car and see what happens....
Another way would be to check ccm with vcds or vag can pro.

All tongue in cheek stuff mate, so don't worry. I have a MK4 TDI and I grabbed it for the same reason you did...it helped that it came with a very healthy provenance and a full (and I mean FULL) service history, being owned by a VW engineering staff member who wanted for nothing when work needed doing helped muchly. It took me more than 6 months of searching to find it but I'm totally happy with it and will be keeping it.

Lock it with the remote with a window open. Reach in and wave your arm around. Enjoy loud noises.
