Title: Lack of 5th gear

Hi guys finally got the golf back on the road after several years.  How ever I now have a problem I never had before. I can't seem to find 5th gear. It goes into 3rd. Any ideas on what the white bush is called in the selector area as this looks very worn. Or any other ideas what it could be

When its in 1st how close to the reverse lock is the selector. You might hace a little adjustment

Have you tried pushing down as if going in reverse? Did this years ago when the linkage had loads of play in it and gearstick hit the sides

thanks for reply turned out it was the little plastic rod that had snapped.
