Title: Golf R Front Pads & Discs Change
Post by: eug2huge on 11 April 2017, 17:21
Hi guys,

Does anyone know of any tutorials for changing the front brake pads and discs on the R?

Or can you tell me the torque setting please.

There's a 'Deutsche Auto Parts' video on youtube for a gti mk7. Is it the same procedure/settings?

Any help appreciated.

Not had to do it myself on the Gti but done discs and pads before in loads of previous cars.
Once you've got the wheel off take off the metal clip that's holding the pads there should be 2 bolts at the back of the calliper top and bottom they are the sliders take them out calliper comes off.
Discs may have a pozi drive screw just holding disc in place take that out calliper off 15mins job apr each side.

Refit is opposite way to taking off....

Little tip unscrew brake fluid resovoir cap and wrap a cloth / rag around it this will make it easier to push the pistons back when fitting new pads.

Hope that helps..

Bolts that hold the disc to hub 8nm
Bolts that hold the brake carrier to hub 200nm
Bolts that hold the caliper to carrier 35nm but should be replaced as they are single use.
