Post by: sms-aka-me on 03 April 2017, 13:31
Has anyone ever done a swap for a 1.8T into the Mk3 ?
How difficult would it be? any ideas on the shopping list?

Fairly simple.
Wirings the worst bit
Youll want a 16v mk3 box and hydro clutch converion
Downpipe
Exhaust
Intercooler and pipework
Air filter
Probally some more things
Should be able to use mk3 engine mounts
Might want a stubby master cylinder of a cupra ibiza or modify the golf one if it touches the cam pulley

done :) currently running one in mine!

DO NOT USE THE ABF GEAR BOX! not strong enough.

To make it fit you need

Mk3 abf rear engine and gearbox mount and either 8v or 16v for front.
with the 16v rears bolts up no problems.

abf clutch hydro master and slave.
