I really like the black Pretoria too, but maybe more so on darker colours, think Lapiz better suited to chrome, but hey, that's subjective.
The one thing would like to know, having scuffed my Pretoria, is what is under the black coat? is it base metal?
My scuffs are quite mild and you only notice if go looking, but if scuff the black which can happen anytime, is the outcome readily visible due to the contrast?

It's..... "awesome".
-
Blimey, that guy's enthusiasm could send you to sleep!
Still 10/10 for him for effort from someone who can't even be arsed to take a photo of his car most of the time never mind spend ages making a full on video of it.
The dials don't look much better than the performance monitor thingies on later second gen MIB units but I guess that's the future now folks. I don't love them nor do I hate them, just tech for tech's sake (or cost cutting). Shame the needles don't contrast as the dials on the mK7 R were the car's standout feature.
It's good to see the shiny silver accents have been dropped but the R is gradually losing its unique identity.
With a nod back to seatgate when lots of R owners decided they'd rather eat mud than sit on mid-grey alcantara, I have to say the all black interior reminds me of a Golf Convertible I had the loan of a few years ago that was completely black inside (with alcantara seats). The actual alcantatra is very grippy but at least with the grey seat edges of the 7R there was a bit of contrast in the interior of the car rather than it looking like an Emo kid's bedroom.

But it's not 'all black' now

Love the black Pret's  don't love the digital dials at all

It looks it from the video.
50 shades of not quite black. :lipsrsealed:
I could live with it.
I just preferred the pre FL interior.
I'm 50/50 on the exterior.

I see what you mean. Actually from the video it seems the actual seat part is a lighter grey. Lets see.

This is what the cloth seats look like in the FL. I wish they did a half leather / alcantara option. I think the cloth is nasty.

Wish they would make the exhaust a bit more 'noisy'
-
I wouldn't ever call it nasty. A bit plain and uninspiring maybe but it suits the character of the car.
The alcantara is grippy and the R would ideally need bigger bolsters if you spec slippy leather.
Having spent two months with a cold bum on higher quality leather than VW offer I'm happy to be back sitting on cloth
-
I wasn't a fan of the light grey alcantara bolsters on the mark 7 R. Glad they changed this to a grey that actually compliments the interior. I spec'd leather in my GTD as I hated the grey tartan, but wouldn't go the extra for the leather again. Really happy with the way VW have changed the seats in the new R
-
I am also a fan of the cloth seats. Super heated leather seats in the summer is also not a fun experience when wearing shorts. In regard to the light grey of the seats in the Golf R Mk7 I have grown to like it a lot and feel I prefer it to the new darker grey/almost black colour. I also feel I prefer the front valance on the MK7 over the MK7.5 seen on the video of a previous post. The air intakes just look too fussy and smaller on the MK7.5 I can see what they are trying to do, but it all looks a little too fussy, constrained in proportions and lacking presence. Not that I am saying the MK7 R looked like an extra from Fast & Furious in comparison. It's just there are certain stying elements like the black side skirt, and front valance etc, which I personally feel have lost some of the presence the MK7 Golf R did have going for it.
-
The brake lights on that looks like an after thought.

Easy to sort with a res delete pipe, exactly what I have done with my R which gives it a bit more snap, crackle and pop
-
Black wheels have never done anything for me really, and afraid that R is no different

Right, firstly black prets look naff, remind me of flare trousers, been there done that. I'm older now. Plus new cloth way nicer than previous be honest though could be way nicer even standard. With just a hint of blue thread. And digi display awesome!! Everyone will want it,for sure so more flexible for info where you need it to be in front of you.
