Anyone fancy an upgrade http://www.evo.co.uk/volkswagen/19061/volkswagen-golf-r-performance-pack-could-be-uk-bound
-
I wouldn't bother with the Performance pack but the exhaust system would be amazing
-
I like the sound of that (the performance pack).
The exhaust, if made available, would be very very pricey.

Here's the cost for an Akrapovic system for a Mark 7 GTI. The R has 2 more pipes!!

Just as I was looking at some of the deals on the facelift Rs this pops up. I wonder how long it would take to come to UK.
-
It will obviously cost at least 3K, but as the article states it's not just the exhaust that you get for your money. I think it's a great idea, I'd certainly pay the extra for it.

Starting to look like a £40k golf is a reality now then.... remember you will get spanked on VED if a car costs more than 40k...

Yep, I think you're right. Last time I specced one it came to just over 38k, so a performance pack would certainly push it over 40 (unless VW keep it to a very user friendly £995 )

Remember that is:
£790 when you drive it from the showroom. Yes, SEVEN HUNDRED AND NINETY POUNDS
Then years 2-5 will be £140 per year unless you spec it over £40k, in which case it will be an EXTRA £310 per year, making it £450 per year.
Thats for the first 5 years, so the residual value will almost certainly be lower if you kick it out at 3 years, because some sap has to pay £450 per year for a second hand Golf...
I'd seriously suggest you untick some boxes if you want the PP-R....
The £40k figure will be list too, not the price you pay...

Isn't the golf R in the £500 first year range?
-
Not at 180g/km (three door manual Mk7.5)

Yeah it's certainly a massive con job. I suppose I could do without the pano roof...

Ditch the options, save on weight to go with the extra performance :-)
-
 Bum, I thought the Geneva car was standard spec as none are on options list. Drilled discs, wing lip, and That lovely exhaust ! As have one on order,oh well still will be the dogs for sure. Predict the next R will be way more costly especially with brexit. This one will be the mother.

Just checked and the DSG 5 door is 160g/km so that would be £500 for the first year then unless its over £40k list price. For the GTI both transmissions are 148g/km so both would be £200 for the first year.
