Title: Insurance question.
Post by: SCOTTE on 13 March 2017, 08:21
My Insurance company tell me that they have two options for my car.

Golf GTI Performance 230 or

Golf GTI performance 230 Launch

Can anyone confirm which one is correct or when I can find out the Information please, I need to make sure it correct as you know what Insurance companies are like for not paying out.

Thanks

Bought my GTI/PP in December and had the same question popped up. Contacted the dealers who informed me that my car (2016) was a Tsi and not Launch. Launch was used for the first GTI/PP's

As SR's link says, it was just the 13 plate first batch that had no radars and no ACC which were registered as dealer demo's and VW press fleet in 99% of cases while VWUK were still buggering about (or getting buggered by the factory) over official specs.

Now there is a facelift GTI 230hp non-pp. This is going to get confused.com

... errrrrrh

If you bought a 2015 car it will be a Mk7 GTI 220hp. (not launch, not PP, not facelift)

It's not that confusing. Mk7 GTI launched early 2013, the very first production cars used for media and car journalists didn't have the front radar hence insurance was greater and model was known as launch edition by insurance companies. When mainstream GTI's rolled off the production line in June/July 13 they did have the radar and insurance premiums were cheaper.

Jump forward to 2017 and the new facelift GTI has now been released and are just starting to hit the showrooms

Then to add in the mix the GTI [Nav] cars (PP and non PP) of mid 2015 onwards...
