Title: How easy is a passenger rear window to install?
Post by: Walts on 12 March 2017, 08:49
Absolutely gutted,

My 5 door had two very minor door dings in the bottom of the NS passenger door.  Went to my usual go to guy who took these out with ease but that's now left me another problem.  The protective sheet/cover or the chock used to open the gap between the window has caused a good few deep scratches on the glass.

The dent specialist has agreed that this needs a replacement glass but now I've got the added risk of them doing more damage taking the door apart.

Is this a big job......... should I be concerned??

It's a reasonably fiddly job - I have taken it out on my mates mk4 Golf once....
Door trim will need to come off, speaker disconnected, then there are some screws holding the glass in place.
Probably window trim needs to come off too so you can tilt the glass out.....

Bit painful to do, probably more difficult on a mk7.

This about sums up my thoughts then

Some cars now are designed so its the external skin of the door that comes off rather than the door card. Either way it's easy enough for a professional.

Guess I'll soon find out........ I'm sure they'll love my OCD when I turn up with the gloss pillars etc already masked up

Thanks for the replies folks
