Having trouble shifting them?

Both cars have only just arrived with us and new cars are not easy to advertise.

I doubt we will struggle to sell them, however if they are not sold by the end of March we will just register them as demo cars and get our money back after 6 months use and write down.

Certainly compared to some speculative priced demo cars often a new car is more attractive, so spreading the word in the right way to the right people is a better way.

Lee

I was thinking that the club sport wouldn't be a hard car to sell. Not a fan of the bucket seats after having the almost same seat in the other halfs rs4, dam uncomfortable on a long drive. However a must for a club sport I think.

Is this extravagant or are  clubsports commanding such prices? I would be more than happy to own one but not at this price. There are cars I would rather have for the price such as a Porsche 718.

That's a Clubsport S - these are now available for sub £40k, so this is well overpriced.

Looking to go back to two wheeled fun for the summer and cannot justify keeping my Clubsport so will be looking to sell in the next few months.

Just looking for some advice on pricing or to hear if anyone would be interested in buying the car. The only privately advertised ones are CSSs so it's hard to figure out a price.

They are brilliant cars.

2016 66 plate
Reflex silver
Dynaudio
Buckets
4 year warranty

1500 miles - perfect condition.

I think a lot of dealers are doing that of late, can you confirm what the write down part means please.

Thanks

A dealer depreciates a car each month by taking a charge on the vehicle - normally 2 or 3%. This reduces the stand in value and is called write down. I'm registering mine as I think they will sell easily as used cars but as Lee says it's hard to get the message out there that you have them as new cars.

Agreed.  Wouldn't even pay that for a facelift R!  Crazy money for a Golf.

Anyone know why VW dealerships are charging higher prices for Pre-facelift Golf R's than facelift R's? Through Carwow you can already get £3,062 off Golf R/GTI RRP through VW Doncaster but you'll see VW dealerships with less discount that than on Pre-facelift Golf R's.

As some bloke with a pointy beard in Ancient Greece once said "an R in the hand is worth £2k more than one that'll be sat in a bush for the next nine months"

Dealers are businesses and have allocation on build slots. If someone wants a car without a long wait a dealer will want to make as much money out of said customer as possible to fund their swanky sales areas and free vend coffee machines.

Whilst there's a gap between an old model ceasing production and new models hitting the road they'll need to make as much money as they can on the old models to keep it all ticking over.

That's why Porsche are the most profitable manufacturers per unit in the world, VW are one of the least profitable per unit.

That's true, any idea when the gap will end? It's just annoying seeing pre-facelift GTI's and R's getting close to £7k discount just 2-3 months ago and now they're only getting £3-4k. It just doesn't make sense to me that a 66 plate DSG Golf R with 6k miles is selling for £30k, when you can get a new facelift R for the same after discounts.

What about this car? 16 plate DSG R with 2k miles, extra's are limestone grey colour, leather seats and tech pack. The price it's up for is £35k, seems crazy to me.

Do you mean on a new one or a second hand one?

I'm talking about nearly new cars you see on Autotrader being sold by VW dealers. I understood why there was a big discount before with them getting rid of stock for the facelift cars to come in. Is it a case of the cars getting sold too fast and not enough interest for the facelift models that they've reduced the discount?
Title: Re: Clubsport's available
Post by: fredgroves on 01 March 2017, 16:56
I dunno why, but I have noticed and commented several times about how VW main dealers have second hand (probably dealer demo/company cars 6 months old) at prices which are mental compared to buying a new one at a discounted price.

I even had that conversation with my local dealer a few months back.

I think essentially nobody buys them and the idea is that nobody buys them at that price, they just exist to get people to buy a new one - a new one is another registration (that they need for their sales quota with VW) and a chance to get someone to take out a VW finance deal (which is probably also a sales target and certainly a cash payment from VW Finance)

It can't be for any other reason can it?

Yeah that has to be it. Guess they'll reduce the price to something reasonable after the facelift comes out.
