Title: New engine
Post by: Paaz on 22 February 2017, 16:27
Hi. I've just been told by halfords that I need a new engine and it's gonna cost me £5k. Has anyone else had this done and what did it cost??

Thanks

5K.
Pick up an engine much cheaper than that.
Shouldnt even cost that much to go in.

If it came into me it would be 800 for labour at the most. Plus parts.
Engine
Coolant
Oil and filter
The clutch and flywheel would be checked etc.

Whats the reason it needs an engine apparently

I'm not sure I would trust them with changing a bulb, let alone diagnosing a new engine...

Second hand engine maybe lemski ;)

5k brand new from VW fitted is probably right.

Why the hell you have it at Halfords to do the work is another matter.

pmsl nor me..My father in law took his Polo in for a couple of headlight bulbs to be changed, the oik put them in incorrectly and it failed its MOT due to the beam not meeting criteria...and he PAID them to do that!!

I'd look for one on Ebay with a seller with good feedback. Just done a quick search. About £1300-£1400 with 6ok on the clock...
