Title: MK3 GTI anniversary newbie

Hey guys and girls

Just joined this site as I found a 1997 MK3 GOLF GTI 8v that was left in my work. All paperwork etc there and the boss said i could just take it as it was a trade in. It has been lying for some time now and will need a lot of work done to it but the main problem is its misfiring and smell of petrol coming through vents. Inside was new spark plugs leads dizzy cap ignition coil etc so hoping that will fix it. Anyways any helps or hints and tips will be appreciated :)

It's not that bad actually just a few patches of lacquer missing from the bonnet. Small rust patches at the bottom of the fenders at front and rust patch at the GTI badge on boot. Inside will need a good scrub as there mould marks on roof lining
