I've posted this in the members rides section like a complete noob but in my defence it's been a long week!
I've finally gotten round to swapping my Bora's front end for a golfs but when I put main beam on it shuts off the dip beam, in was just wondering is this an easyish thing to fix?
-
On the mk3 you could put a clip in to keep dipped on with main.
On mk4 Bora it has different headlights to golf, so it shuts dipped off with main, H4 bulbs iirc....
Not sure if this can be changed in coding or you need to bridge a connection in central electrics like the mk3.
-
I did this in my brother in laws Mk1 Focus when he converted to facelift headlights and it was just a case of cutting a wire and rejoining it near the stalk...
It might be a case of seeing what triggers what on the wires with a multimeter
-
Nothing should need cutting.
You may need to change a contact in loom going to headlight switch. Rumour has it it's Pin 8 to Pin 7.
-
Where would I be looking on the loom?
I was just going to put a relay on from the main beam to the dip to switch it back on
-
At the headlight switch!
-
So is it a case of switching these 2 wires at the back of the stalk?
-
Well, switching 8 to 7 didn't do anything
-
Cant you just put power from main to dip aswell so when you go main it keeps the dip on.
-
That's what my plan is today, I'm going to wire in a relay to power the dip from the main. I was just hoping there was a better way than doing it like this.
-
I cant see how its that different than a golf but ive never owned a bora. The only other option i can see is a bora lighting loom.
-
It really ain't rocket science!!
As I mentioned you just need to mod a little. It's even in the Haynes wiring diagram
