Hello guys! Long time no see.
I'm afraid house commitments meant I had to get rid of my Golf R and have now been driving around in a Fiesta ST. Needless to say i'm desperate to get back into an R. I miss it so much :( It's been a year! Now i've noticed that VW are now offering over £3,000 off new VW's until April. This seems like an incredible offer....orangewheels has nothing regarding the level of discount you can get off the R now, only GTI for some reason? What kind of discount can you push for on these bad boys now?
I'm wanting a 5 door DSG. I'm hoping Monkeyhanger is still around these parts as he was incredibly knowledgeable.

Unfortunately that will be because the last date to order an R was the middle of October 2016

Welcome back Savage
As Stevie says, they've been closed for ordering for a while and if you look at the VW configurator it says 'from stock only'
You'll need to spend a bit of time seeing what dealers can still lay their hands on one and whether they'll cut you a decent discount on top of the VW list price cut.
At the beginning of January there were some in the system but I'd imagine they're scarce now.

Nooo. You're joking! Whys that? Is it to make way for the Mk8?

Facelift time!
-
Just read the thread. Looks like I need to save for the facelift ;)

Interesting with switching to a 7 speed box. I remember these not being as good as the 6 speed? Hope it's the new 7 speed they designed for the R420?
-
7 speed should be fine, although seemingly it doesn't improve fuel efficiency (mpg and co2) like it really was designed for.
Unless of course the difference comes at motorway cruising - hard to tell from those daft official fuel figures.
-
True you would think it would improve MPG being able to get in 7th and hence lower revs.

The new 7 speed is not the same as the lower power handling dry DSG in the 1.4s. It is the high power handling wet DSG the Audi has used for a while now so is well tested.
