Title: Clubsport Protective Steering Wheel Cover
Post by: TurboTrev on 31 January 2017, 18:57
My Clubsport has just arrived and the throwaway protective steering wheel cover that the factory put on it to keep the wheel clean while the car is in transit has gone walkabouts.  If anyone has one they don't want I'd be happy to buy it off them?  Thanks.

They were supposed to be saving this one for me.  I have asked, but they may not be getting any more in.

Every option but the most important one surely !? Bucket seats..

Yes the bucket seats are vital for the the Clubsport, they make it go much quicker and the car handles much better, in fact they almost turn you into a racing driver, it's an awful pity about the rattles and squeaks they make.

I got most of those in mine minus Prets (Belvedere are so freaking light-weight) and tints (I always associated heavy tints with drug selling for some reason) but especially leather seats are just wrong on this car imo, the CS stands out for its more focused and sportier approach, looks and set-up wise, what's the point of toning it down to look yet like another GTI or R with leathers?

The buckets are not just a trademark/cult item of the Clubsport that already is and will continue to be highly sought after, but also aesthetics-wise they are the perfect match to the steering wheel, door trims and DSG cover that use the same alcantara fabric, they just feel natural in that cabin. Every CS has to have them I think.

Be like the Audi TT Quattro Sport with the standard squish seats not the Pole Positions - WRONG!

Be like the Audi TT Quattro Sport with the standard squish seats not the Pole Positions - WRONG!

The bucket seats were very tempting for me when I placed my order for the Clubsport, however before I placed the order I was following the German Clubsport thread and noticed that several Clubsport owners since July last year started complaining about squeaks and rattles they were experiencing with the seats. This issue is still continuing at present and there appears to be no solution to the problem. That was simply the reason I decided to go with the standard seats which I am very happy with although of course the buckets would have been my preferred choice. Below is a translation of one of the latest post regarding the issue.

Repairs and replacements are currently suspended. One has probably for the many complaints no solution ready.
The creaking, clattering and adjusting the seats will probably sooner or later be sold as state of the art.

The same seats have been in Audi's for years and an option on the Golf since the mk5 - have they all suffered the same?

Plus the issues are always amplified in forums, I know of at least 3 other owners (and myself) that don't have any issues with them.  The fact that only some of them are rattling implies a solution/treatment is feasible.

Not had an issue with mine.

Ripped a set out of MK5 last month, they look like they wear pretty well in leather form.

I have had no problems with my seats. They look great and feel great when driving. They are also heated which is something I wouldn't have expected from sports seats.

I agree that they make the Clubsport what it is and add to its uniqueness.
