Been advised I have a patch of rot that is close to the suspension arms that would be an MOT failure next time round.
Can the current sub frame be salvaged if the rot is not bad with a rust treatment and seal?
Can a sub frame be welded?
If no to both these how many hours at a garage would it be to replace? I can see a brand new sub frame is £100

Not long to do a subframe. 3 or 4 hours should be ample to drop a subframe and seap everything over and fit it back up.
Should be able to clean it up and weld it though dependant on where the rot is.
Only thing that can go wrong is if the nuts in the chasses leg welds brake then you have to pull the carpet up and open the inspection hole to undo subframe nuts.

It's £105 for a new subframe on eBay, may just be easier to buy a new one and replace it completely..?

I am going to replace the frame. Especially as it has now cracked!
Anything that could be done whilst I am at it?

Wishbone bushes. Antiroll bar bushes. Steering rack bushes.

Done, done and done!
Right, next problem is the suddenly developed high idle revs!
