Just had the mk7 for three weeks now , I said to myself ' No modifications ' !
Looking at the wheel position in the arch and the wheels seem to be quite inset ! Looks like it could do with 10mm less on the offset .?
-
I think it's about 12mm front and 20mm back for a flush fit.
-
I think it would look much better but costly to get new wheels when i do like the Santiago
-
Spacers?

There's quite a few topics on here regarding spacers etc I myself like many others have 20mm rear 15mm front which gives a better stance look from all viewing angles around the car..

Ok . So I'm guessing that doesn't give you any issues with contacting the arches ? I was thinking 10 front and 15 rear .. but if it's tried and tested I'll go with the 20/15 ... has anyone got any photos with this fitted ?

I wimped out and went for 12's front and 16's rear on standard 7.5 inch wide wheels.
No photos unfortunately but others here have put some up running the same spacers.
I used Sparco spacers as they were a good blend of quality versus price and the fact you can actually attach the spacer to the hub/disc via a screw to make taking the wheels off and putting them back on again really easy.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPARCO-WHEEL-SPACERS-KIT-2-x-12mm-2-x-16mm-WITH-BOLTS-VW-GOLF-VII-7-5G1-BA5-/331242142763?hash=item4d1f91fc2b:g:gmYAAOxyPKNTlxZi
They don't come with locking bolts if that's a particular issue to you though.

Not sure weather to buy the spacers and keep the Santiagos or buy new wheels ? spacers off course will be much cheaper

I went for new wheels - BBS SR in 8.5x19 ET46.
Fill the arches spot on.
I'm running 235/35R19 but I think (you'd need to check) 225/35R19 should also be fine on them (although you might get a little bit of a stretched look).

Gnasher - each time you post that image it changes my mind on white GTIs as generally I don't like them, but that looks spot on.

I did much the same but also had spacers when running the originals.
Firstly the BBS's were tried from my old MK6.
Then those were changed for something slightly more OEM looking.
Then I realised I needed a bit of drive to the rear wheels to tame the rather non OEM power.
Which meant I'd need new shoes to go with the new frock...

Admit it Watts, there is really only one choice of shade for ANY mk7... :lipsrsealed:

Would a 19x8.5" with 35 ET and 225 tyres work ?

I still think you really need to be a lot closer to ET45 - those you linked to (and any ET35) will be too far out and (from looking at mine) will rub like crazy on the wheel arches. 225 tyres would help but I still think you'll really struggle. I am happy to be proven wrong though.

Ok Iv decided to go with spacers rather than get new wheels . I really like the Santiagos .
But so far Iv ordered 15mm spacers once they arrive ill then decide to order either 10mm or 20mm ...
