Dreading the car going in to these inept chancers. How long should this take? I will be there for the doors opening and iam planning to wait on the car. Clown on the phone told me it could be in for 4 hours which i know is a load of rubbish.
Going to tell them not to wash the car as well but that will probably be ignored
-
If they do it straight away it will be under 30 minutes for just an oil change, they spend more time washing the car if you wanted it scratching.
Just check everything afterwards, oil cap on, dipstick seated, no visible leaks, level correct, filter housing tight, etc. I do that at any place I get serviced at even main dealer as people are only human and do make mistakes.
Oh and good luck!

My first service was done within an hour on a 'while you wait, fancy a bacon butty?' basis! All they are probably doing is booking you in for 4 hours so they can do the work when it suits them.
-
Any reason why you are taking your car to be serviced there? Arnold Clark have a terrible rep in both sales and service.
-
If you're on a service plan then they have to get authorisation from VW to carry out the work which can take an hour.
I had a call the day before to ask for the mileage so they could pre-approve my service before the car arrives. My car service was completed in 1.5 hours.
-
Make sure that you get them to check your car over and sign a document stating any damage or marks that it on your car. That way they have no recourse to say that the damage was there before hand.
-
Every vw dealer in the country should be doing the walk round with customers.

What happens if they accept that they damaged a wheel and refuse to replace it? Are they supposed to replace or repair the wheel. I'm going through this at the minute with a dealer who damaged two brand new wheels while the car was there. I noticed the damage before I left the dealer and they agreed to replace the wheels but they are now saying that they will only repair them.

AC have fairly recently taken over the Stirling and Bathgate (West Lothian) branches of very long established Inch VW.They were well known for being expensive but with very good customer care. You could hear the collective wailing and gnashing of teeth on hearing the news from many miles away.
Could always go to Western in Newbridge Edinburgh.Bit of a trip for an oil change mind.

I got a bit of stick for making this topic but it helped me out when I got my first service down on Thursday.

Some very good advice in that write up.
Does anyone have any opinions about Listers Coventry?

I have had no problems in the past with them. They won't wash your car if you don't want them to. They have got a Captain Peacock type stalking around when you first get there to greet you and check over your car straight away. I have never had to return to get anything fixed after my initial visit either. So in summary based on my experience... 👍👍👍

My GTi is going into Arnold's (used to be Inch Stirling) for an oil service in a few weeks, will report back on how it works out.
I know that when I get round to the next service and then replacing the car in a couple of years I'll be heading up to Cameron's of Perth. No way will I be dealing with AC unless I have to, had way too many bad experiences with them in the past.
While I'm on this topic, as my car is on PCP does it have to be a main dealer that services it? I've previously used A for Audi in Glasgow to do work on my cars and would happily use them again (if I can without screwing up my PCP deal)

As long as they use genuine parts and follow what the service should be then it won't make any difference to warranty or anything else. They might try and offer you less as a trade in but the money you've saved from an independent service should offset that.

They weren't too bad tbh. had the car back in under an hour unwashed
They have made a lot of changes in the showroom and i got the impression that they are trying to make it look like the BMW garage accross the road.
