Title: Alternator light

Noticed today that when I switch the ignition on there isn't a battery alternator light

Just as a check stick a meter on the battery with the ignition on and the car off, then check again with the car on, then stick the lights on and maybe the AC. You'll be something like +12 then +14 then with load it should then start to drop if that make sense.

Don't connect anything across a battery, unless you know exactly what you are doing!

True...don't poke anything unless you know what your doing.

Not every warning light is displayed during ignition on.

The alternator fault light I suspect illuminates when there is an actual fault ( battery symbol).

True, my check was to make sure the alternator was working.
