I'm looking at an April 2014 PP car. The GTi badges front & rear are silver. Am I correct in thinking that PP cars have red badges?
Cheers,

Hi Margy,
Originally all UK spec GTI's came with silver badges regardless of whether they were PP or not. They changed them round about May 2014 so now only PP GTI's have the red badges
-
A PP car will have red calipers with GTI on the fronts and rear vented discs if that helps.
-
I've seen Nov 63 plate cars with the red badges & 64 plate. 14 plates seem to have silver badges.

I had a 63 plate GTI PP and can confirm all GTI's regardless of PP or Std spec had the silver badges pre-may 2014. As Craig states the red badges were introduced during May 2014. The only way to tell a pre-May 2014 GTI PP is the brake calipers with "GTI" in them and the rear vented disc brakes.
The reason you may have seen the red badges on 63 plate GTI's may be as a result of them being added after.

My 14 plate (April/May 14) has silver badges if that helps. You'll probably get a bit of changeover around that time as some might have been held back for new registrations etc.

Cheers everyone!

They have whatever badges that are in the parts build at time of build.

My GTI PP originally had the silver badges as it was a 2013 car, but I ordered some red ones from my dealer when VW changed them over - and they fitted them for next to nothing, so worth doing I thought

You may find some have fitted these.......

Could be an option for you if you don't want the hassle of changing the badges

Mines a 2016 Gti non PP originally came with silver badges front and rear sorted with dealer prior to collection they swapped em for red ones for free just cost me the badges then I got the black badge skin to over the chrome part of the blade and silver Gti on the wings
