Ok, it's German market only but that's the best we've got right now.
(Shamefully stolen from another forum but I'm just doing my public duty  )

Worrying lack of GTD on the new Golf config there.
-
Lol, love how the new 18" wheels for the GTI are called 'Milton Keynes' !

Exactly, I was also going to post that. It jolted my brain into wondering what was going on far more than the first coffee of the morning. They are the only 18" wheels and to my mind to look over fussy, not a fan.
Good to see the availability of the active info display, almost reasonably priced at €510 ? I thought it would have been more?
I am never a fan of these computer photo derivations, but even for those who know the cars, you have to look hard to see much difference over the mark 7.
-
Is it me or have they taken a nice simple design and made it overly fussy?
The base model Golfs look a bit sharper but the GTI just looks overly fussy at the front and aside from the sweeping indicators the rear lights don't look as nice to me either.
I do like how on the .de configurator you can specify light or dark (with lights on) backgrounds. Unless you can do that on the uk one too and I've just never taken any notice of it(?)

Until you try to pick it and then you have to add at least
Radio "Composition Media" @ €440 and
Licht-und-Sicht-Paket @ €330

Ah ha! That makes more sense, I expected it to be around €1000, I shouldn't have fallen into the trap of expecting a bargain on a VW configurator...Will I ever learn?
-
They are amongst the worst looking wheels I have ever seen. And I mean all 4 available options !
I'll stick to my Austins.
-
I like that new seat upholstery option...
And you can spec prets on the GTI, an 18" version?!
-
I like the 18" Prets in black against red and that 3 door is still available! I don't want a 5 door and if they ditch 3 door models then I won't be back (although I suspect my demands won't be taken into account by VW....). Overall I think the new one looks good as it is so similar and I like the new front bumper too. Good to have more choice in wheels but the colour choices are rather bland and limiting (apart from red of course). Only one engine output choice or did I miss a PP version?
-
I saw that too.
No PP at this time, and emissions for the GTi now at 145-148g/km instead of 139 for the manual. Also worse MPG across all test cycles? Perhaps some re-alignment to ensure emissions are accurate? Otherwise it would seem strange to fair worse on a newer model...

I was looking on a German website earlier (too cold and damp to go and clean the car so i've been hibernating indoors) and amongst the TUV approval for a set of aftermarket wheels it did list 310 PS for Golf R's post 09/2016

Why the big dislike of 5 door Golfs Watts?

Mid life crisis  If I'm going to buy something sporty I don't want it to look so practical, may as well buy a Volvo estate and a pipe and be done with it (no offence to 5 door model owners, only my personal opinion ).
-
What's on offer here may bear no relation to what we eventually get here in the UK. Lots of options, like alcantara trim, have not been offered in the past. Some of this looks good, but who knows? Like the look of those black Prets! I could see a set of those on my TS car.

Fair enough, can't argue with that. My GTI was 3 door and I loved the look of that car but the long doors and my narrow garage didn't get along.

Yes, our spec is likely to be very different again and there are bound to be bits we don't get.
It would be nice if Prets come as an option on the GTI too. After the CS coming with that option it can't be bemoaned as an exclusive R design any longer.
Silver White looks an interesting colour. Similar to MINI's shade hopefully which is great, it really hides the dirt and swirls. I'm glad they've gone to Indium Grey too, I could never quite gel with Greige LSG.

There's a set of refurbed prets in black on ebay.....

I saw them yesterday and they look awesome

Yeah, indium grey is nice. Definitely the pick of the colour range on the Passat and new Tiguan. I'd say it'd look great on a GTI with the red bits.
-
No 7 speed DSG option on the GTI.
I wonder when they will be rolling them out?
-
Are you sure this is the Mk7.5 golf and not just the German configuration for the current one.Its just that to me the interior shot is identical to the current interior and the 230psi output for the Gti,I thought it was getting a power upgrade.
Edit,I was looking at the old one ignore my post!
-
Liking some of the new colours, cannot believe they called the wheels Milton Keynes
I'd take a more door after having a 3 for a few years, the sill detail at the bottom of the door looks so much better with the sweep by the rear arch than halfway down the side
-
Good find!
I like the change with the red into the headlights on the GTI - looks very smart.

I like the change with the red into the headlights on the GTI - looks very smart.
I wish there was an option to delete them.
This GTI has red lipstick and red eyeliner  Very bling. Might look ok, just not sure I would want it on my car. Maybe I'm too old to appreciate them :undecided:
Obviously, won't look so bad on a red car, but my new car will be silver.
Everyone has different tastes.
-
Really like the 18" prets, but anyone else noticed they are under ''original accessories'' and you can spec them on any trim Golf not just GTI?
Whats the betting these wont be available to UK.. Milton Keynes will be standard on GTI with Santi or Brescia as a 19" option..
-
Just looking at the German configurator, they get absolutely nothing as standard.
Simple things that we take for granted are a cost option with them:
Fog lights
Car alarm
Driving profile selection
CD player
DAB
65% tinted glass
I've not even included our other more complex things like
ACC
winter pack
sat nav
Although it could be these are dropped in the new 7.5 and are a cost option. Which will make it quite costly.

Yeah I can understand that, the red looks good on a red car - but I agree on a silver one maybe not so much.

Worrying lack of GTD on the new Golf config there.
Maybe just because they have yet to announce the specification for the R and GTD.
Because they didn't announce them at the same time as the GTI, GTE does this mean we can expect something special?

Possibly awaiting significant changes to the GTD's CO2/km rating by making it run a little cooler to put less NOx out. R almost certainly getting a 10ps uplift and lower CO2 with the new 7 speed DSG (as per Audi S3) maybe the reason for delays to announcement.
-
Just had a look at a customers new TT with virtual dash.
I grudgingly had to like it
I still think I prefer traditional dials but it was pretty slick I must say.

... that could be part of it. Making big technology improvements with the GTE is probably the most achievable.
Maybe the GTI only requires small adjustments to give real world improvements.
Maybe the R and GTD are requiring more tuning to get near their previously quoted fuel economy figures, when using more realistic tests.

"The new Golf will bring efficiency gains across its engine range - but the official figures for the car may only show a slight improvement as VW tries to produce data that can be matched in the real world.
VW’s head of development, Dr Frank Welsch, told Auto Express that his engineers would not be “pushing the limits” of how the cars are tested for fuel efficiency - and that this should give customers a better idea of what they can achieve in regular driving.
“We have small improvements in the engines across the whole range,” said Welsch, “but as a result of the past year [Dieselgate], we changed the parameters and restrictions of our measurements on fuel consumption. We were all following these regulations - all manufacturers - but now we’ve made our tolerances even smaller so the results are closer to the real world."

There are official (99% sure) pics of the R facelift on vwroc forum if anyone is interested.

Predictably, not many of the people over there like it.
As someone pointed out - the front lights are reminiscent of the Mk6 style. Maybe that's why I like the Mk7.5.

New FL GTD on the German configurator now, and it has the newly developed 7-speed DSG
-
On the facelift GTI the 6-speed DSG is a €2,000 option.
On the facelift GTD the new 7-speed DSG is the same price (as the new FL GTI 6-speed DSG above).
However, with the current exchange rate it would cost £1750. I remember when it was a £1200 option :undecided:
Edit: for clarity, see post below.
-
Same price as what? The 2k option in the GTI?
