Title: Golf Mk7 Clubsport S Part Numbers
Post by: Jackie Treehorn on 07 December 2016, 09:45
Hi All

If you want to upgrade when the time comes with alternative VW parts, I have tried to compile a list of Clubsport S part numbers with comparison GTi PP numbers.  I have also added some number for bushes in arms separately where available to see if they are different.

Interestingly i have had my eye on a rear ARB I found that is 3.6mm thicker and it looks like this is fitted to the CSS to add a little stiffness to the rear while keeping the front the same. The front arms are different, but the balljoints are the same and so are the front bushes, however the rear bushes are different on the front arms, and this could be the reason for the complete arm different part number.

Anything else you want me to find please let me know (some for the CS needs to be checked, which i will do again this week)

Good post. Now I know I might be asking too much but I think it would be interesting to a lot of us to have the same list for the Clubsport and thus pinpoint unknown CS/CS-S differences or similarities. The other day I measured the rear arb on my CS and found it to be between 21.5-22mm so it seems as both CS variants share the same item in terms of rarb.

Cheers

I can find every part (trim, bodywork, seats, sound insulation) except the carpet that covers that area on the CSS, how strange...

Quick question - are the calipers and hubs the same on the CS-S and GTI PP?

If so, that would (hopefully) open up the chance of replacing with CS-S discs once worn.

The calipers are the same (part number on previous page are the same for both).
The hubs are different and so are the bearings, will the discs mount the same?  You guess is as good as mine, but i wouldn't want to try it with my own money as i bet a special order at VW is non returnable...

Aha, wasn't sure if they were CS or CS-S part numbers.

Like you say, I'll let someone else take the risk before going for it myself

Meanwhile at the Ring:

"How do we make the a**e step out Karsten?"

"Wheel Frequency = 0.5 Pi by route K over M...... actually just add some roll bar Fritz, that'll make him hold on tight"

Could be a Ginetta paddock (sorry Simon).

If you have a moment JT, I would be grateful to know whether the recaro bucket seat covers in the CS are one piece or whether you can order separate bits?  In particular, could I order the right side bolster covers on the driver's side (base and back), together with the foam that goes in them?  If so, I would be grateful for the part numbers - I'm anticipating that they will wear very quickly so I would like spares!

Also, what are the differences between the CS and CSS exhaust systems?

Many thanks.

It looks like the seat base and seat back are the only parts sold for the padded areas, so if the lower side bolster wears you need a seat base, and the same for the upper bolster.

The part number for the base is 5G0881375AD and its not a bad price £88 but the upper part is priced on application

I will post a pic up later this eve showing the part I mean

I don't have a UK car but I just found this from a VW ad: LC66WYW (CS with DCC)

In principle they should be the same as the only difference should be in springs (at least according to the CS-S press release) but you never know...

Have to say what I great thread and respect to you for the time you spend on it. Makes a CS to CS-S project a very simple job for whoever is after it. That was actually my plan before getting my CS (track down suspension differences and replace all the CS-S bespoke items) but it honestly feels so good as it is (much much better and balanced than all previously suspension tuned cars I had) that I don't think I will bother for a mere 3-4 trackdays per year.

Just a word of caution on the rear CSS strut bar.

Someone on another forum asked about this, and thought it was a rear strut bar in the traditional sense of increasing rigidity to the rear.  however I think from looking at the pictures and location of its fixings, it is only a cosmetic bar for the purpose of supporting the net and isn't a strut bar in the sense of how we would describe/use it.  It looks like it secures to the small rear seat locking u shape bars in the upper seat location on the normal cars and is only lightly secured.

I would like to be wrong but...

Hi all, I pick my Clubsport, not an S, up next week. I'd love to know what the difference is in the hubs. you can get extra camber easily without the hassle of hubs. Also the aluminum subframe which I'm guessing is an Audi S3/RS3 part. I'll upgrade to CSS disks though as there good value and 1kg lighter per corner.
