Title: WeatherTec USA bootliner for lower level.
Post by: Mike J on 20 November 2016, 13:08
Just fitted a simply perfect boot liner to my Mk 7.

It took quite a bit of searching but eventually found exactly what I needed on Golf Forum in the US.
Contact with the company provided their only UK agent, it not being a stock item they agreed to make a special import for me at no extra charge.
Delivery took a couple of weeks but when it arrived it was certainly worth the wait.

High quality material, well designed high sides, none slip, deep grooved base and underside, superb (lazer cut) fit even around the difficult shapes of the Mk7s boot, and far superior to the flimsy VW higher floor offering (Yes I have one).
A very impressive addition and something that is 'made to work' if you understand what I mean.

Highly recommended!

I will post a pic and the suppliers link (if allowed) soon.

Sounds a really good bit of kit. If the price is right I may well invest in one.

Been looking at the floor liners as well looks a lot better than the normal rubber mats that don't stop anything going around the edges

looks like it could be a decent solutions for the boot floor of the clubsport S which doesn't have any cover at all

I take it this is the same one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251373876331?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT as the part number corresponds to uk distributors website..? even though it says 2006-2013

Distributors website link...http://www.americanvehicleparts.co.uk/car_parts/acatalog/WeatherTech__Cargo_Liner____40335_.html#aW40335T

Works out cheaper buying it through the bay too.

BEWARE
The Mk7 2016 Golf with the boot floor pan set at the lower level has a completely different floor shape than all previous Golf models.

The DBP American Vehicle Parts number you require is ZZ*40599 listed as CARGO LINER. 16 GOLF.

I paid £92.26 and £12.50 delivery Nett.

The upper level liner supplied by VW Parts Divn. is VERY thin, much thinner than the GM Astra boot liner I used in my Mk5, eg; I have both liners standing side by side in my garage and the new VW liner is bending out of shape whereas the 6year old GM mat is still standing upright!
I would estimate that the new VW liner around 1/3rd of the thickness of the WeatherTec liner above.

Personally I wanted something that would last, certainly not some mickey mouse copy off ebay which explains why I sought out a top quality product and contacted the manufacturers well before their UK stockist.
During my original enquiry the UK supplier told me that the WeatherTec Mk7 lower boot liner was NOT something they stock but that they would import one for me. I was also not offerred an alternative.
The liner came in a WeatherTec box addressed to the UK company with shipping notes from WeatherTec USA and my details alongside, so is clearly the genuine article.

As with all things in life nothing comes easily and the time sourceing exactly what I require has paid off handsomely with a  boot liner that is simply perfect in every way.

Hope this helps.

Just received another present for the new arrival.

Thanks Mike for recommending this, it does feel like a quality liner...
