mk3 16v gti gearchange problems

when selecting 1st it sometimes goes into reverse or 3rd. Like the problem on some mk2's

I thought mk3's were all cable change boxes and didnt have this problem with worn linkages etc?

could it be the ball thing under the geartick?

well I think places like GSF and Euro carparts sell kits to fix em... So I wouldn't have thought so. But it's a cable change box and I've not got one of them, so I can't really say. In fact, don't listen to me I haven't got a scooby.....

fixed it. Loose bolt at the gearbox end.

Good to know it wasn't serious mate... I've just fixed an electric window in a '91 Sunny. A REAR window I might add... By Christ, I'm glad I've got a Golf, those jap cars are made outta coke can tin!!!  :laugh:
