Title: Brake pad light..Golf GTTDi 2005 ( BKD )
Post by: greg1953 on 05 November 2016, 21:01
Brake pad wear light has come on but I've had new pads in the front since August, still good. I disconnected the plug on the pass. side front pad but the light stayed on, is there a wear indicator on the rear pads ?

Of course the light stayed on - the circuit is open....
Tears may have wear sensor, would suggest you take wheel off and look for wire to brake pad.

Easiest way to see if ita wiring is unplug and bridge the connector with a paper clip or something. Completing the. Ircuit

Rears do NOT have wear sensors.

As itavaltalainen states, by unpluging the front sensor, you will trigger the warning light!  Reconnect the plug - but check carefully for any damage to the wiring.  Non-genuine pads are frequently prone to breakpad wear sensor failure (and OEM can fail too, if handled roughly).  Also check for any corrosion within the electrical connector, and ideally seal and protect the connector with a smear of silicone grease inside the connector.
