Title: Sump plug help!
Post by: joe6 on 17 October 2016, 14:05
Just going to do my intermediate oil change and general VCDS check and found that the sump plug fitted at the last full service is the type with a splined insert in the plug instead of the previous bolt head type. Can anyone help with the spline size please?

Sorted it myself. Went to VW dealer to get a new sump plug - first time I have been given anything by VW dealer!! On checking the spline fitting found I had the required T45 star socket bit (6 point) in my toolbox. Job now done

I've always brought a new sump plug from my dealer when I've done an oil & filter change. Its always been an hexagon. The other thing is it has a steel washer not Copper, Aluminium or Fibre which is total crap for a drain plug.

Sealing bolt with sealing ring - N908 132 02 - £2.62

The same sump plug is fitted to 330 VAG models.

ETKA doesn't show a Torx only an hexagon.
