Hey guys I'm a still learning about mk2 golf's. I drive a 1990 mk2 golf driver 1.6, I saw for sale a mk2 driver 1.6 with an 8v head, I've never heard of this before and wondered if it is actually doable and what is required to do this modification. Any help would be brilliant thank you

You mean fit an 8 valve head off a gti? Because it will have an 8 valve head from new. If your going to start trying serious stuff with the engine but want to keep the 1.6 then I'd see if a 16 valve head would work, i can't see there being much point in faffing just for 8 valves. 8 valve performance engines were obsolete before the mk2 went out of production.

Yhhhhh I that's a good point. Would be able to shed any light on what I may need to do.

8v gti head goes on a 1.6. Bigger valves and a better cam. Slight I.provement over standard. I nearly did it but instead put a 16v engine in. Years a go mind.
If its a gti head its have normally 2p siliconed over the injector holes, unles its running injection

if you fit a 1.8 head, you might want to skim it first as the 1.6 is only 9-1 compression ratio. I would go for 0.5mm skim
