Title: Golf R lead time and delays
Post by: evo1986 on 06 September 2016, 22:23
Sad new for the Golf R people out there.....if someone could please post on the rforum for me that would be great.

Additional delays for Golf R Hatch

There are separate delays for Golf R Hatch orders, caused by restrictions on the supply of seats for this model.

Vehicles that were scheduled for production in weeks 30 to 41 will be delayed by up to 11 weeks. Production is expected to resume at normal levels in week 42. Vehicles scheduled for the subsequent weeks are also likely to face slight delays while the backlog of orders are built.

Any affected cars that were ordered under the loyalty campaign that would have been deliverable by 9 September but are now delayed will still be honoured.

I wonder if this is related to the bankruptcy of Hanjin Shipping!

Evo, this has been shared on the Rfroum (VWROC). I know it states Golf R Hatch in the bulletin but is it ONLY the R Hatch that is affected?  Are R Estates affected by the delays too?

Many thanks.

No nothing official mentioned about Golf Estate.

Update: Agreement reached; plants affected are preparing for the resumption of production

VW1010-16
Update: 23 August 2016

Agreement has been reached in the negotiations between Volkswagen, the Eastern Horizon Group and the suppliers CarTrim GmbH and ES Automobilguss which form part of that group. It has been agreed that the content of the agreement will remain confidential. The suppliers will resume supplies to Volkswagen in the near future and the plants which were affected are therefore preparing step-by-step for the resumption of production.

Some of Volkswagen's suppliers have suspended deliveries to Volkswagen. Seat components and differential housing are affected by the suspension.

Volkswagen is working intensively on minimising the supply risk, to ensure that deliveries can be made to customers.

Due to the disruption in the supply of components from these suppliers, there will be no production of the following models in week 34:

Golf Hatch
Golf SV
Passat Saloon
Passat Estate
Volkswagen CC
We are currently working with the factory to understand when production will be resumed and also how this delay may impact on future build weeks.

Waiting to hear from my dealer but just chatting to the online advisor they said my GTI has been delyed

"Thank you for waiting. I appreciate your patience. I have contacted our Sales team to see if there are
any further updates and they have informed me that all Golf's that had an original build week between
weeks 34-37 have all been delayed by an extra week due to the recent Factory issues, which I can only
apologise for on behalf of Volkswagen. What our Sales team have informed me is that your vehicle
should hopefully start production early next week but if not, they can investigate further if needed.

The delays were caused by some supplier issues, which has mostly affected Golf R's, but production of other Golf models has been slightly delayed. However, those recent supplier issues have been rectified, so Volkswagen and the
Factory are doing everything they can to get the production line moving again and clear the backlog that
has been created, as we do want to get your vehicle to you as quickly as possible."

Thanks

Had the same information past to me. My GTI was supposed to be built last week however it's being built this week. Expecting delivery first week of Oct.
