Just a quick one. Wants to see what people who have kept their vehicles (not just mk7) did/will do about warranty. My car is going back but my brother in law hs a 1.4tsi gt Mk7 he is clearing the finance and keeping the car. VW have quoted 220 to extend the warranty for 12 months.
Presumably there will be cheaper alternatives that do the same thing? If so any recommendations.

There are so many exclusions and claim limits to the majority of "aftermarket" warranties that staying with the manufacturer is probably a sensible idea.

Pretty sure that even the VW one will have some exclusions. Worth checking around a few for the best cover/price.
I'm definitely not going without some cover for mine, with it's DSG gearbox. Happily, a few years to go yet, though.

Those were my thoughts the exclusions on after market ones may be a killer but with VW it's only 12 months

The extended VW warranty you buy and pay for before the car is registered is as comprehensive as the one the car comes with for 3 years.
You can buy a year or 2 at the end of your 3 year warranty will cost more and be less comprehensive. The other aftermarket ones are less comprehensive again.
I paid for the 5 year warranty when I got the R - either because we will keep it at least 4 years and sell privately, or i'll sell it sooner with a lot of warranty to the next owner.
