Hi anybody had any EGR issues since any emissions scandal software updates? work mate had his in at VW and 100 miles later EGR fault!
-
Yes. I had mine done at vw chelmsford. The next day egr fault, limp mode etc. Not impressed. Looking to do egr / dpf delete / remap.
-
Do we need to get software updates for the emissions issue...? I thought it was just for diesel cars?

Glad I wasn't the only one that thought that too

Cheers, it's going back into VW next week for them to have a look at it. Mind it doesn't help that he drives it like a "Vicar going to church on a Sunday!" fast driving is in excess of 50 but no faster than 60
-
Despite two letters from VW, I'm still waiting for mine to be sorted.
Not sure what difference it will make but fingers crossed it doesn't create a problem....
-
PS Yes, only the Diesels

He's a lucky lad, quoted £1200 to do the job and vw will foot 90% of the bill.
-
Lucky indeed - how old is the car?

It's an 11 plate 140 GT

It would appear that many people have had issues with the update - EGR failures amongst others - engine rattling, low power, MPG through the roof, vibration etc etc and VW seem to be brushing them aside and saying that the failures were probably about to happen anyway!
IF anyone's interested there's now a FaceBook Group (The Volkswagen diesel customer forum (Emissions scandal)) https://www.facebook.com/groups/955027937948541/ who appear to be dedicated to make VW/The Press/The DOT sit up and listen and - of course - the more the merrier.
And remember- ITS NOT ILLEGAL TO NOT HAVE IT DONE - .......yet!
Some people have specifically stated to VW that at service time they DO NOT want them to update the software (it's supposedly irreversible), but it has been done against their wishes and are now driving around seemingly in a bag of nails - All enjoyment has gone and performance down.
I would suggest if you get the 'invite', not go ahead with it until the fiasco is sorted and please join the above FB group, the more people complaining with one voice the stronger the impact.

Just ti clarify that the process is reversible
I've had customers had the software update done and I've subsequently put their remap back on

But why would they do that Rhyso? They will have spent time and money getting to and from the dealers to get the 'fix' done, then spent more time and money with you just to get back to where they were in the first place?
-
My GTD was fixed at Lookers Dumfries and so far there has been no lights, rattles, or lack of power , Its due for a service soon so hopefully it will still be ok.
I haven't heard anything about my Tiguan yet .
-
I got my letter this week saying the GTD "fix" was ready.
I'm wondering whether to have it done...or not.

For some it's been done without their knowledge when the car has gone in for a service.....they got a nasty shock when they collected their car!
For others it seems like its a re-sale value thing; by having it done they hope it will mean the future value won't be as horrific :undecided:
I do generally advise people not to bother stating your points, but at the end of the day the 'customer is always right'........
