Hi all,
i'm just getting ready to order a new GTD DSG 5-door, with a few extras.
I've had test drive in the R, but really don't want high fuel costs, and have lived with the 184 TDI engine for just under 3 years with the A3 quattro.
Looking at Sport and Sound pack for red callipers, and 95% window tints, and maybe 19" wheel options.
Any other options that you would deem vital.
Also, will be trading in my A3 on PCP, so have been looking at Orange wheels and Carlow for discount (as DTD don't do trade in's), had a few offers around 18% with £5500 off the list price, so seems pretty good value for money, but have never used these sites before.

I'd see what drivethedeal says you can get it for. Other forum members have used this to try and get their local dealer to match the price. I've go a GTI coming for 1st September with about 6k off list (same as drivethedeal price), so you might be able to get a bit more.
I've got the 90% tints ordered on mine also but it might be worth checking out the std 65% tints as these seem to be dark enough for most.

Thanks Wesbar, i'll have a look at DTD and haggling lol.
-
I'd go for the park pack as its cheap and once in a while quite useful.
Also very good for showing off!

I used DTD and CarWow, found dealers far more willing to take CarWow seriously. DTD would have to have been significantly cheaper for me, with not really knowing who supplies and having no input in how the handover process goes (I don't want any dealer prep). I've ended up paying slightly more than DTD price, but the dealer is within walking distance, and the additional saving that DTD would have allowed really wasn't worth it.

I've purchased my actual GTI through Carwow and the service was brilliant, can't really fault them, plus you talk directly to the dealers.
I have a new GTI on order for October, ordered from my local dealer and they matched the best Carwow quote so there is that. I went for same spec as my current GTI PP plus DSG, 90% tint, reverse camera and CarNet with Apple play.

Nice one, thanks guys.

Hi
You can see below what I specced on my 16 gti if you look into it closely having some options give you other options for free or at least a huge reduction on the option.
I have 65% tints on the rear I must say they are dark enough unless you want the blackout look lol I had my fronts tinted to match was about 40% and they are nigh on perfect match..
Hope that helps

when I purchased my GTD IN 2014 I ordered 19 inch santiagos, and lived to regret it, 2 punctures due to potholes cost of £300 plus for Pirelli tyres, 2 new rear shock absorbers within 6 months, and the ride was unbearably uncomfortable!. Must admit they do look better than standard wheels but a high price to pay for looks. When I ordered my new R stuck with standard 18 inch wheels and no regrets as ride is much better and tyres a lot cheaper
-
The standard gtd wheels look absolutely fine. I didn't give the 19s a second look when I ordered in 2013. I would however get them on an R and possibly a gti as the standard wheels aren't nice imo.
-
I'd echo the above in terms of the standard GTD wheels, I think they are the best looking standard wheels in the performance Golf range. I've got Santiagos and love them, they look fantastic and unlike wag29 I'm very happy with the ride 95% of the time even without DCC. But I do also agree about the cost of replacement tyres, not looking forward to that day

Thanks for the info about the wheels.
I've got 18's on my current A3 s-line, and will probably go for the standard 18's too, as replacement costs will be dear enough.
And hate being ripped off, on say a Sunday, when all decent tyre specialists are closed, and your forced to goto to Kwikfit for an unusual size for your A1 black edition. £250 for 1 18" tyre! Never again.
Those standard 18" clubsport alloys look very nice too, i wonder how much they would be..
-
The secret is never go to kwikfit 😉

Woah, painful. That's more than I spend on 4 tyres for my GTD on 18's. I love the look of the standards.
Your spec looks good, sport and sound has a great exhaust growl too. If you like your music in the car I can recommend dynaudio also.

Thanks ffrank.
Is there a facelift due soon, i take it this model has not been facelifted?
