Hi after having owned a mk5 gti for 7 years im a bit disappointed on my mk 7 gti . I took my car in today about the rear spoiler being out of line ie the gap between the spoiler and the rear quarter on on side its 7 -8 mm on the other its 3 mm just been told the spoiler is not adjustable because its bonded on ie the windscreen so it needs a new spoiler . I would have thought this would have been picked up in so called vw quality control .Also the car has brown rust marks on the paint work next to the petrol flap this is to be corrected when its in for the spoiler . has any one else had and build quality problems.Like to hear

Had similar issues with the black side bits of the rear window where they meet the spoiler, big gaps on one side. Keeps the dealership workshops in work. A new turbo and investigative work on my ACC sensor when it kept throwing up faults northbound through the Tyne Tunnel (a long stint of driving on an enclosed curve seemed to play havok with it).

lookers or Benfield silverlink did the dealer sort it for you

The piece of dash between the centre air vents on the dashboard was for a LHD car on my RHD car when I picked up my current car on the hand over from the dealer 3 years ago.

Touch wood both my mk7's have been very good build wise so far.
The tailgate on my GTI slightly caught on the top of the rear bumper but that was about it and it wasn't bad enough for me to ask a dealer to rectify it (potentially for them to make it worse & disturbing the paint on the hinge bolts)

They are my local dealership, but they are absolutely sh!te, best place to go for servicing or warranty work is Sunderland Pulman, they have an excellent master technician (even Pulman Durham were a bit crap when I was going there for the ACC issues because it was handy for a job I had in Sunderland at the time - clearing fault codes without reading them and claiming nothing was logged - I had seen them with VCDS).
Same story with Tyneside Audi at Silverlink (also Lookers/ ex Benfield) recently for the wife's A1, 2 crap attempts at replacing a door rubber under warranty and they dented the windscreen pillar (3 very small dents) and denied doing it.

I have a second-hand Touran that was supplied and serviced by Benfield, despite having "a full service history", there was no record of a cambelt change, although it was five years old and 40,000 miles.
