Will turbo back go through an MOT as no CAT? if not, how easy is it to fit a CAT for an MOT or does all that get bypassed with the turbo back and therefore costly?

Turbo back should include a sports cat so will be fine for MOT providing everything else is working properly

Decat is when you'll fail an MOT

Ah ok, mine has had the CAT scooped out :p so whats the benefits of going turbo back and what parts are changed/removed from the standard setup :/

You'll have either 2.5" right through or 3" downpipe to 2.5" system

The standard system is 2.25" right from the turbo

So stock exhaust is turbo back, when people say 'turbo back' system they just mean CAT back with a sports/enlarged CAT/pipe

Turbo back is the down pipe from the turbo the centre section and the back box the down pipe has the cat attached it's better to get a turbo back as pipe work is bigger 2.5 or 3 witch means turbo spools better as its realising gasses quicker

And the 850 was for a decat turbo back not sports cat

ok, still a little confused, so stock downpipe still goes to the turbo, its just smaller than it should be?

Stock downpipe is from turbo to cat. But you can get unrestricted ones that are a little larger in diameter

ok, so my TDI has a tubo back exhaust as stock
a CAT back system leaves the turbo downpipe and CAT but replaces the center pipe and backbox
a turbo back system just replaces all the existing exhaust components with larger bore ones and has an option of removing the CAT
a straight through system removes CAT, center muffler (if there is one) and rear muffler and replaces it with one big pipe from turbo all the way down

and finally, a resonated system has baffles in and a non resonated system does not.

is that correct?

I've got one on mine, unless the pricing has gone up exponentially, I paid £250 for the cat back (including a choice of tip) and when I got the downpipe and 200 cell sports cat (FIA Approved if anyone needed to know ) fitted that was £300

non res just means the centre box/resonator has been removed

the TDI's dont have centre boxes anyway though do they?
