Title: Golf Mk4 1.8t gear box

Hi guys I have a golf mk4 1.8t runs ok but changing gears feels stiffer compared to before . I mean the gears change with out problem but it's just stiffer especially on high revs. Feels like the gear nob is scrapping if you know what I mean. Any one got any suggestions and also how do you know when your gear box is about to blow off what's the signs of a bad gear box ???

Whinning gears.
Sound more like the selector bushes
