OK so i believe the fuel pump relay has given up...well to be fair it is 30 years old
i have no priming of the under car pump (which it used to do on starting up ) the fuse is good
as per the haynes manual , i have feeds to the relay base but nothing to the pump
the sparkplugs are dry so no fuel getting to em..
so i hope it's just the relay & not the pump as well

Turn the relay upside down. If it primes then its the relay. If not the pumps gone
-
upside down ? it only fits in one way ?
( type 19 early mk2 )

Ive had ce1 k-jet it should go in another way and bridge the connections to make the fuel pump prime. As to check if the pump works still.
Or put a power to the pump underneath and see if it primes. Again eliminates pump

will try tomorrow if it stops raining cheers

No probs mate

tried the relay direct to the battery nothing so
renewed the relay with one from GSF
& she starts so happy days
the old one had the date 08/85 on the side
so i must send a letter to VW to complain , about the quality control
