Title: Mk6 golf aerial issues - help needed
Post by: S.arif on 09 June 2016, 01:37
I have recently purchased a mk 6 golf tdi s

Best investment I have made - even though the car is a cat d it runs smoothly

The only issue I have is the with the RNS510 system. The system is factory fitted, I assume, as Vw unlocked the system when it was asking for a code.

The steering wheel does not have functions for the DAB system

The issues are that the radio and satnav are not picking up any signal. The phone button does not connect to bluetooth and simply mutes any audio or sound coming from the system.

After fiddling with it I have found that the ANT 1 and ANT 2 are off and this may be due to why the system isnt picking up signal.

The car was hit from behind and i think this may have damaged the aerial.

What are my options and what can I do to sort this out?

Any help is much appreciated

Thanks!

First not all RNS 510 had DAB so assume that yours has the button on the radio? This link gives an overview of the connections (MK 5 but similar the MK 6). Have you checked the connections to the rear of the radio? Might be poor (none?) connections to the rear screen and or roof which acts as an antenna for FM and DAB on most models. Sat nav usually uses the small antenna on the roof. http://workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/golf-mk5/vehicle_electrics/communication/infotainment/radio_navigation_system_quot;rns_510/overview_of_radio_navigation_system_quot;rns_510_golf_saloon/
