looks like the dipstick for the power steering fluid, should be attached to the cap.

It's not the speedo drive is it? I'll admit I've never seen one off a golf but looks strangely similar to the one of my old classic mini?!

it does look like a speedo drive with the square end and what looks like a magnet going round it.

goes in to the top of the gearbox at the back :wink:

Thanks lads yeah ur rite goes between the plug and the speed sensor goes in the gearbox
