Hi all, Is the climate screen retrofittable for the MK7 Golf GTI?
-
Actually another way to look at this enquiry would be to ask if the climate screen were chipped, damaged or cracked could it be replaced by a third party/retro-fitted or does it have to go back to VW to have the windscreen refitted? If it does have to go to VW to be refitted as I feel may be the case would it be part of the factory warranty if the windscreen were chipped 7 cracked?
However if it can be retro fitted it would be easier to replace the windscreen should it become damaged.
-
I would imagine a windscreen supplier could replace one of the screens as its more than likely a push on connector on each side feeding the supply to the screen.
-
If we are talking about 'retrofitting' rather than just replacing an existing climate screen then there would need to be wiring/connectors and switchgear present to operate the climate screen when fitted.
As its a factory option tied into having Advanced Telephone preparation as well I wonder how or maybe it has no relevance at all, to fitting a retrofit Climate Screen if you are not bothered about potential poor phone signal strength because of the screen makeup.
-
Do you still have to have the phone prep with the climate screen?

Just checked configurator and its still showing need to have advanced phone prep with the climate screen option.
-
Anything is retrofitable providing you can find the right person to do it.
-
The configurator has always said both together but hasn't someone on here ordered the climate screen without the advanced tel prep?

Think youre thinking of a member from Ireland where they can be specced separatley

Ah ok. It wouldn't surprise me if we can do this but would need the salesman to do it on ordering.
