Title: Allergy Filter vs Pollen Filter?
Post by: Talk-torque on 02 June 2016, 18:54
The recent upgrades to some of the Golf range is said to include an allergy filter in the climate control system. Anyone know any more about this? Is the new filter interchangeable with the current pollen filter. Be good to know, as any upgrade would be a help to folk sensitive to airborne stuff, like me.  :undecided:

Well, maybe have a look at that one, but no, according to reports, the filter in Golfs has been uprated from a pollen filter to an allergy filter. Just wondered if they were interchangeable.

Certain times of year my hay fever is worse than others but the car has always been a sanctuary regardless so the present filter must be doing a pretty good job, though if thats improved some more then all fellow sufferers will breathe a huge clear sigh of relief

our 2014 car:

I've pulled the filter out of our car and it appears to be a standard Valeo carbon filter to remove smells and car particulates?  So may invest in a new one if it is a proper anti allergen filter, as my wife does suffer with hay fever...

FP26009 is that the correct number for Mann Filter?

Do we know for sure if a VW one is a true anti allergen filter?

BTW the Mk7 doesn't have any differences across the range or years so the Mann one will fit all years.

That is the correct number for the MK7. The MK6 has a different part number. Cannot find anywhere in the UK selling them?

Firstline who are an importer on Mann don't stock it, ECP don't, but it is on Amazon.

I can confirm that the Mann pollen filter FP 26 009 is the correct one, I've just fitted it - I'll get some photos loaded up shortly. I paid £22.46 from Amazon (£18.32 + £4.14 p+p) and it's a 5 minute job to swap it, albeit a bit fiddly.

I watched the following video for guidance https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=k_UGcsFfTuY

I haven't driven the car yet, so can't comment on any difference as yet

The old one is pretty mucky! How long, and how many miles, has it been in to get like that?

24 months & 16,000 miles - the new fancy filter is supposed to be swapped every 12 months

That's not the same as the one I fitted. It would appear VW/Mann make 3 different types of pollen filter for the golf; 1 standard, 2 charcoal (filters out more pollutants & odours) & now 3 the frecious-plus (does 1&2 + filters out Allergens ) link below for info

I just fitted the 10 pound one from eurocarparts. It's the carbon one and it seems ok.

Is there another one we should be fitting?
