I ordered my Golf R back at the start of April and still do not have a build week. I am not surprised as my GTI PP took six months from order to hand over. With this in mind I thought I would start a thread to find the longest time any of us have waited from order to picking up the car from the dealer. It is not meant to depress those of us waiting, but instead give an insight as to real world time scale we could wait.
I know there are many variables which can affect the time to wait for your car to be built so It may be interesting to see if there is a pattern as to which options delay a build other than dealer allocation.

6 months for me,but was told if I wanted prets it would be more like 8 months.

I am wondering if mine will end up being 8 months. Have been told end of september, but i have doubts this may not be reality. An ex work colleague of mine waited 8 months for his TTS so a wait this long is not unheard of.

Ordered my R on the 11th April and have BW24 confirmed, spec is 3dr DSG car with only 90% tints and Apple Connect. As we have recently just found out though I do now also get Nav and Winter pack chucked in which is pleasing.
I did have a wobble on spec mind and tried to add the Prets to my order before my BW was confirmed and was told it would add another 8 weeks to the availability of the car so I held off.

I have order mine with Pretorias and pretty much everything else on the option list. So I am expecting a long wait.

Ordered mine with Prets and a few other options and got confirmed BW25 2 weeks after ordering :grin:

I ordered mine on the 11th May & got my build date of wk25 yesterday so should hopefully get around end of July spec ordered below

Back in 2013 I ordered my gtd on 1st April and picked it up on 20th September but put that down to orders being taken and not started to be built until July.

8 months wait for my R last year.
Ordered 29 Jan 2015, got Stage 3 (confirmed BW) on 18 Aug, and collected from dealer on 1 Oct 2015. But I know of a couple of other people that waited 11 months.
I specced 19" Pretorias and at that time the general consensus was the long wait times were being caused by a supply problems with these wheels. It was a hellishly long wait and at one point looked like being a 12 month wait when my est build week shunted even further to Jan 16, but at this point I raised a complaint with VW, and the week after got a confirmed build week. Maybe coincidence, who knows. Anyway it was a long wait but that did melt away the instant I got it.
I'm pretty sure these mad wait times are no longer the case. Certainly know of plenty getting theirs through currently much quicker.

These long wait times will certainly make you want to keep hold of your car for much longer once you get it. It will not affect whether I continue waiting for my order or not. But if I do not get a build week confirmation by the month i am supposed to receive the car I will kick up a stink and see what I can get out of my dealer to soften the extended wait. I doubt I will get anything but it is worth a try :grin:

Ordered my 2nd Golf R September 2014 took delivery end of March 2015 - a seven month wait - very much a winter of discontent for that one :grin:

I'm only 2 months into the wait and its killing me, reckon I still have 6-7 weeks to wait :sick:

I feel your pain, when i had my GTI PP I was told to wait 3 months for delivery then it got extended to 6 months that was really agonising. I am trying to be more laid back about it this time. I look on it as the later the date the more extras it may have as standard and longer I have to save up for my next car after that... I know, you should always plan for the future. :smiley:

Think of the ugly focus rs orders now, probably a 12 month wait and then an all new focus st already doing the rounds :grin:

At least if we do have a long wait, it is something worth waiting for :smiley:

Ordered Sat 27th Sept 2014, picked up 28th May 2015 - Those Prets had a lot to answer for.

I ordered mine on 1st April and collected it today (4th June) mine is just a standard 5 door GTI with the panoramic sunroof and 90% tints as options. Pleasantly surprised at the relatively short wait. The car is an absolute dream to drive and would have happily waited twice as long! :smiley:

My predicted build week is 08/08/16. So I could be looking at mid to late September for delivery all going well. This would be about 6 months. Will keep you posted if this becomes a reality. :smiley:
