Title: Horn sounds like a clowncar!
Post by: Carbon VW on 26 May 2016, 23:26
Hi folks ! On my way home today a tractor pulled right out in front of me as I was bringing my daughter home from the minders. I went for the horn and it sounded like something that would come from a toy car ! I suspect the low tone horn has stopped working and this is the high time horn I am hearing on its own. Is this covered under warranty ? Also I had a look to see where the horns are located and I suspect they are under the wheel arch where there seems to be a little cubby opening ?
Any insight would be appreciated !

The car still under warranty? If so, definitely yes, bring it in and ask for it to be sorted out under warranty.

I remember years and years ago my Dad "burnt out" the horn on his car with excessive use during the drive from the church to a wedding reception  I assume you didn't do that...

This should be sorted by warranty. The horns are in the wheel arches, one on each side.

For anyone that's interested, I got the horn fixed today. It was the low tone horn that was the problem. The tech said that its such a common problem on Mk7's that they now keep an overstock of the part at the dealers. They also replaced the drivers side safely belt buckle as the squeaking was driving me mad. Got aircon service (car almost 3 years old) and it made a big difference. I thought before that it was working well but it has made a big difference.
