I'd personally put the money into prevention rather than detection.

Personally speaking, I wouldn't be without one. Just make sure you factor in the annual subscription.

My insurers insist on a tracker, had to fit one to my GTI and have ordered one with my R.

I don't want one. If my car gets stolen I'd rather not get it back. It's not like the thief is going to drive it carefully is it.

Exactly how I see it too

Think share that sentiment, will just have to endure the inconvenience of 16-20 week wait for it to be replaced.

Though the flipside is that these people have no care for the emotional damage they can cause on top of the huge amount of hassle also for honest hardworking folk, so you want them caught also.

Totally understand what people are saying but when my gti went GMP said if it had a tracker there'd be a 95% chance it'd be returned. That does help with insurance costs as I'm paying the price now. I suppose all insurance companies find a way to stick it to all of us though!

Thanks all  some very good points there, anyone know how much you can save on your insurance by having t on your car?

Not 100% sure. But what I do know is that the £300 Megane I bought while without a car was more expensive to insure than my S3 with a tracker. Then again, having the car in a garage overnight increased my premium!

I personally would ask your insurer what savings your likely to save and weigh it up against the cost of the tracker.
Minw cost  £400 for lifetime of ownership as iv bought my Gti and not looking to get rid in 3yrs

Try a cheaper sim card type from e-bay,they actually do work, by sending you the map location etc, just by ringing the sim number installed.
Spend the savings on prevention..
