Hi, I would really like to know what I can expect from my new gti so how many miles warranty free have other owners managed ?..I will start this
Fridge 329 and counting
-
I managed 800 and I got my steering wheel replaced for a manufacturing defect. Passed 10k now and I've not been back for anything else.
-
Define "no warranty work"?
I've had several fixes applied while its been in the shop for services... and did about 20k before I had a seatbelt pre-tensioner go wrong.
-
Well my thinking was miles with just service visits ,no unwanted visits back to vw for warranty work.
-
Ok, so about 20k before the seatbelt went wrong.
-
Good question, though sure answers will vary markedly
Have done near 25k now and only had the gaitors tied correctly which was an issue for early MK7 but not an issue that carried on for MK7 once the PDI advisement was properly understood by the dealers. - That's it for me.
-
My GTD has 42,000 on it and hasn't needed anything doing under warranty. Sometimes I can hear a bit of a creak in the suspension though so I really need to book it in for them to have a look at that.
-
Well on Saturday I'm just about to swap my 2013 GTD for a brand new 2016 GTD. It's just under 3 years old now, ahas around 25,000 miles and has been bullet proof (let's hope the new one is as well).
-
I have over 100k on mine, only faults were a leak on DCC shock absorber on front left and a glow plug.
Well and the sat nav screen but I did have to pay for it..... and 2 windscreens but they were cracked due to stone chips....
-
Not a high mileager here but have now gone 2yrs without having any warranty work done at all - *touch wood*
-
1200 miles now no probs and the car is starting to free up..mpg is starting to increase I managed 36mpg the other day. I did get 63,000 miles from my old 3 series with no warranty work before I traded her in so hoping for the same from the golf...that's six years motoring though.
-
I had less than 100 miles when I took it back! It was booked in for works and had done 1800 miles by the time the parts were in and they had the car. Hoping that's it for a while!!!
-
Looks like it'll be 300 for me. A nasty knock coming from the front passenger side suspension.
-
Gti - 20k and counting.
-
Gti - 20k and counting.
That's more like it, I was starting to get concerned at all these low numbers.
-
5200,so far so good.
-
21k and it's been good as gold
-
8.8k to date, only issue is an annoying intermittent rattle in the door that I'm ignoring for now but will mention when it goes for a service. There have been rattles around the dash but somehow they've stopped?
-
50km no warranty work GTi
-
6k in & I had the whole MIBII heart replaced - been fine since and now on 10k miles
-
now at 2500 miles and the horn has stopped working (well half of it!). SO far had a whole new dash and a control unit for the stereo aswell as new wiper blades (all done with less than 1000 miles). Feeling slightly unimpressed at the moment!!!
-
Done 2000, 6 weeks old and no work as yet.
-
My R is on 22k and no work so far.
My GTI went back the day after delivery.....and 17 times after that and fully rejected at 29k
Nice balance 😆
-
GTi PP 13,000 miles 2 years old, never been back to a dealer other than service.
But its hardly many miles, we need to be 5-10 years on or rep cars before we see anything significant i guess

Golf GTE
2016 model
800 miles new battery
1200 miles new hybrid
3000 miles new ECU
Think a new turbo was chucked in at some point

You should start another thread on this Tory, I'm intrigued.
There aren't many on here with GTEs and your experiences and impressions of the car would be very interesting. Particularly if you're used to a mapped GTD which is a bit of a torque monster compared to a very heavy 1.4 petrol car.
-
I don't think there will be many GTE owners on here as people are taking them out assuming they will get 80mpg which is the biggest lie I've ever been told. I did 10k in the GTE so have got a decent amount of knowledge of how utterly pants they are haha. I bet if I put a post up it wouldn't get any replies

Tory, it would be good to hear from an owner, albeit a disgruntled ex-owner

I would also be interested to hear about your experience, as I was certainly considering one of these as my replacement car in about a year.

Rather than drag this too far off topic I've started a new thread: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=278363.0
I'm sure a lot of people would actually be very interested in the car and why you chose it plus all other aspects of ownership.
We have a massive demography of ownership on here and not all of us are complete petrol junkies, there are plenty of GTD owners on company car benefits who probably have had one eye on a GTE at some point.
