iv a golf mk4 2003 20v turbo auq engine code, from time to time the revs increase by themselves, bad smell of petrol fumes any ideas out there cuz its realy doing my head in, scan don't say alot

Clean the throttle body. After that have it checked to se if its alignment is right

Smell of fumes would suggest you have a leak somewhere.

Itll be a sensor near to the throttle body. Theres also a sensor for temp in the throttle body.
