Title: Advice Mk6 or Mk7 GTI?
Post by: 2007GTI on 04 May 2016, 17:39
Hi All,

I've been on here a long time, had a Mk5 GTI from 2006 to 2014, and am now looking at getting back in to GTI ownership!

I've been looking at 2012 Mk6 GTI's DSG with leather and parking sensors for around £16k mark.  However I could just about stretch to an early Mk7, prob without leather for £18-19k.

I just wondered people's opinion are, is it worth spending the extra for a Mk7?

Thanks in advance!

I test drove a 2013 GTI, 5 door, DSG, no options, I was very impressed!  Just got to find one in black for the right money!

I went from MK5 GTi to Mk7 GTi last year, loved my Mk5 for 6 years or so, and a nice one will still turn my head - that said I knew I'd made a good choice on the drive home in the MK7 :smug:

I've got leather but didn't going looking for it, but the rest of the car was the spec I wanted so I had to get it. I could live with out it but then it is nice to look at and gives a premium feel or thats what people tell me.

I never considered a Mk6, didn't seem much of an upgrade on the Mk5 and appear rather dated now, neither one thing or the other :embarrassed: - I'd say push yourself for a Mk7 if you can, don't think you'll regret it.

Thanks Eccie.

Im with you on that, Mk7 seems to be a much better and more modern car.

I agree on the leather too, my Mk5 had leather, but leather MK7 seem few and far between.

I could live with the cloth on the mk7.

I'll keep looking!

I see drive the deal can do a new one for £23,391 on finance, or £2k more cash. Thats no options, just met paint.

However according to reading a few forums, you can cancel the finance and pay the outstanding balance within 14 days, thus saving £2k!
