Title: new to forum, 94 mk3 gti tryin to get running
Post by: superstark on 03 May 2016, 07:14
hello folks, new to forum, bought a car off a buddy, really dont know much about it, 94 2 dr 2.0 with a few goodies, AFTERMARKET greddy turbo, exaughst manifold, forged intercooler, uprgraded injectors not sure on the details, slammed on some coilovers on old school porche rims real low to the ground. interior and body are in wicked shape, rebuilt top end, brand new fuel  pump, plugs and wires, rotor, cap.. plus a handful of other things. trying to find more about it as i go. hasnt ran in a few years, been sitting in a yard untouched for 2. wont start, dont know where to start and im not much of a mechanic.. project this week is to get the full tank of 3 year old fuel out of the tank and lines, and make sure fuels running, can here the pump turn on, turns over fine and sounds normal just wont fire up. once the fuel things delt with the next thing im replacing is the distributer in itself, hoping it may have something to do with the hall sensor.. ultimate goal here is to just keep replacing parts till i get her going.. anyways  i will be posting a bunch of pics as soon as i figure out how, and keep posting my progress hoping for anyone with any insight to what im doing to chime in and help a brother out.
side note, buddy i bought the car from had a shop look into it, was told that the guy replaced the crank shaft position sensor and got it fire up, but then it ran on a real rough idle running super rich, he said he thinks the seals on the turbo are blowing oil into the motor.. all in all i think its complete bullsh!t because the last owner of the car already replaced the same sensor and the mechanic said that the sensor he replaced looked like it had never been touched and was all rusted to hell, and on the dipstick the oil is reading proper level and oils looking fresh as can be so im betting money the mechanic didnt even touch it and was just talking out his ass. anyways, gonna be browsing around the forum tonight hoping to find the right path here.
