Hopefully someone can help last week I had some lowering springs fitted to my golf but since then the passenger drivers front wheel sticks out another further than the passenger front wheel why is this many thanks
-
Does the tracking need doing if I only fitted lowering springs
-
Tracking should still be done. Also subframe might be slightly more one way than the other
-
Should I be worried
-
Get a picture up. Wouldnt be worried. Get it tracked. If it wasnt bad befor l would assume its just tracking
-
it will just be down to the difference in angle between the wishbone and the steering track rod. they usually toe-out after they have been lowered so as said, probably just needs track adjusted.
-
Will get the tracking done in a couple of days
-
tracking is all well and good but generally they wont touch camber (in my experience), unless you pay for full four wheel alignment.
You can push and pull on the wheels to plumb them before tightening the bolts; it's by no means accurate though.

There is a local garage to me that do the hunter tracking is that ok

Depends on the price tag!
Hawkeye or not, definitely get the alignment done. If it's pos/neg camber you will have to pay extra for it to be sorted.

Just undo the two bolts push wheels all the way in for maximum camber. I always needed it.

As soon as you undo the 2 bolts at the bottom of the strut (2 bolts on each side) you will put the camber and tracking out.
This is a handy tool :- http://www.gunsontools.co.uk/item.aspx?cat=1352&item=4034
You would need to reset it.
To do this you will need to park the car on level ground,a big spirit level will help with this.
Jack car up both sides and remove both front wheels.Make sure steering is set dead straight.
As your camber is already out and you have no reference point to work from so you need to set the camber on one side to zero.
Before you do so though you will have to make sure the front of the car is level.I do this by putting two same length sockets on either side of the slam panel and rest a long spirit level across them.Using a trolley jack on either side i go up and down a bit on each until it's level.
Then you will need a small spirit level that you can put against the disc on each side (one side at a time) and after loosening the bolts pull and push the disc so it is 100% vertical.
That disc is now at zero.Tighten bolts a bit so it stays put for a minute.
Attach the gunson tool (magnetic) to the disc and set it to zero. Then push top of disc in so the gauge shows 2 degrees.
Tighten both bolts on that side as it is now set.
Before you remove the gauge reset it to zero whilst it is still on the disc.
Go over to other side and attach the tool, ignore whatever it reads.
Undo the two bolts and move disc until the gauge lines up with the zero it was locked to when you removed it from the first disc,
Tighten bolts and refit wheels.
Camber is now the same on each side.
Your tracking (toe in/toe out) will be affected by the camber adjustment. After doing the above you will probably find that the wheels have toed in a bit as well.
