I'm having a slight problem with the underside fuel pump. Randomly it keeps not working ??? Started car earlier, both pumps primed, 2 mins later stalls. Go to start it again and the underside pump isn't priming. Turn the key on and off a couple of times and then it primes again. It did it the other day when I was driving, stalling on a main road (embarrassing). Again on turning the key I knew straight off it was the underside pump. I'm thinking I may have a dodgy earth, but is it possible the pump may be on its way to the scrappers in the sky? Anyone had similar issues with it turning out to be something totally different. Also, not sure if its related, but I keep getting a light wiff of petrol from left side of the engine bay when the hood is up ???
As were on the subject, is there an upgrade option fuel pump as such, mk3, g60?
Cheers for any help!

Check the relay. It's about 10 quid for a new one. I've been through 3 due to water ingress, but it obviously causes pump issues
Check the connection where the fuel hose meets the fuel rail (including the return line). A bad connection there caused a pretty bad fire for me a couple of years back. Don't take any chances.
A lot of people swap the mk3 fuel tank which included the in tank pump. Iirc that replaces both mk2 pumps.
