Fuel tank on the GTI is 50L. The R has a slightly bigger tank (55L) but it's also thirstier.

I cant get 30 mpg on my DSG Gti, im not exactly Ayrton Senna these days either!

Its always 29.something to the gallon. My old manual Mk6 used to be slightly better I think.

Google suggests 55 ltr. My manual GTI averages about 35mpg but I can get up to 45 if I'm behaving myself.

On journeys where I used to average 27/28 mpg on my mk5 Gti dag I now average 32/33 on my mk7 Gti dsg. I was initially concerned about the smaller fuel tank but it's not an issue. On a 70/80 mpg motorway run I can achieve 40mpg, which was impossible in the mk5.

I've only covered 320 miles so far and my average has just crept above 30mpg (best I've seen on good run was 37mpg).  I' m quite impressed as my old 1.8 focus was always averaging less

That is a really good road to give the car a thrash .Marvellous series of uphill bends towards Castle Howard .I was not going overly hard but it was a heart in mouth moment when I shot round bend to see "boy in blue " with hand held up !

My Beetle averaged around 28-32MPG and that was a 1.4TSI. Seems I'll be able to have more fun and still achieve the same MPG in my GTI !
