Title: Guess who's back!
Post by: remlapeel on 21 April 2016, 20:25
Hey guys, been a while since I popped on the forum, but today their is a big reason to, and it's Golf related.

So as some of you know I leased a Jag XE in December of last year to replace. My Golf R as I had a second child on the way.

Since then, I have a new addition to the family, Arlo Lee Palmer who was born on the 29th Feb (5 weeks early) completely healthy. On less positive news, my Jag has continued to play up, with a total 5 visits, 60 days of repair and 24 faults. I have only managed to put 3k onto the Jag in 5 months, and given I do 20k a year and 1000 of that was a single visit to see my family. I haven't had much opportunity to use it.

Due to the shocking state of my Jag and my Wife being pregnant for most of it, I had to keep hold of the golf just in case.( one of the Jag issues was a fail to start).

The whole issue came to an end 2 weeks ago with the Jag being returned fully working, a cheque from Jag for £900 in compensation, it was time to let go of my R.....

Now..... I took it for a final spin before setting it up for return, clean, empty etc. I got out with the biggest smile on my face after putting a focus ST in its place. I then climbed into the Jag to go shopping with the family and felt like an man, I opened the panoramic roof to make me feel better, but was hit with the puttputt of the diesel engine, so I closed it again and sat there thinking how much more interesting this drive would be in the R.

So today, I handed the Jag to my business partner who's lease is up on his current Megane and hoped into my Golf R. Rearranged my staff so I do less miles and contacted Revo who unlocked the 2015 R ECU 3 days ago and set up a visit for 2 weeks for a remap, intake and fitting of VWR sports springs and I couldn't be happier....... I may have agreed to my the wife a new buggy that she wants to stop her stabbing me.

Congrats on your new addition to your family

Wise choice, plenty of time to be sensible, cars are expensive so may as well enjoy yourself. Looks fantastic too!

Yeah I'm glad to be shot of it and I have been loving the R again since. I had a Revo map on it at the weekend and that absolutely mental!

That's one way of rekindling the romance with the R!
I've had a few REVO maps on previous cars so can well imagine what the R feels like now.

Being close to JLR HQ and a lot of the engineers I can't say i'm surprised at the amount of issues. When they build a good one it's fine, but there isn't much of a happy medium and the dogs are complete and utter dogs... like yours lol.
